A Vision for the FutureContinued increases in national healthcare expenditures coupled with downward trends in reimbursement create an environment where long-term care facilities are in crisis. Without additional revenue streams, quality providers will face extinction. In response to this challenge and opportunity, Lutheran Homes and Health Services, a proactive senior housing and healthcare provider for almost seventy years, has developed a strategic plan to provide innovative services and accommodations for aging adults in our community with an emphasis on changing consumer expectations and a focus on hospitality. We are expanding our Mission to include an additional sector of seniors currently not served with our existing programs. The Hills at Cortland Ridge will be a not-for-profit wellness based senior living community sponsored by Lutheran Homes and Health Services. The primary concept of The Hills at Cortland Ridge is to develop a community that provides a variety of independent living arrangements and offers a continuum of wellness and assistance-in-living programs. The Vision Statement for The Hills at Cortland Ridge is as follows: An important component of the lifestyle planned for the Hills at Cortland Ridge will be an innovative and comprehensive wellness program specifically created for senior housing communities. The program will incorporate all aspects of wellbeing including inspiration, discovery, education, training, adventure and service. These six dimensions of wellness have been proven to enable older adults to improve their cognitive skills and to maintain a higher level of functioning for a longer period of time. The complex will include cottage homes, independent living apartments and assisted living services. Seniors in our community will benefit from this project, as it will offer a retirement living option that provides opportunities for life-long learning, activities, exercise and wellness as a healthy way of life. Deeply rooted in Christian values, The Hills at Cortland Ridge will offer an array of programs and services for people of all faiths. LHHS is also pleased to announce a partnership with The Commonwealth Companies whereby we are developing a thriving independent living community at the historic St. Peter’s church and school in Fond du Lac. This campus offers affordable independent and assisted living to area seniors and opened in the Fall of 2009. Lutheran Homes and Health Services is an integral part of the Fond du Lac community. As such, the organization is involved with local area churches, service clubs, not-for-profit agencies and has partnered with several local businesses to provide enhanced community education and support for important local not-for-profit missions. LHHS will continue to explore community partnerships that will enhance our service to the community and the greater Fond du Lac area. |
